I love Chromebook Perks, but I can usually not claim them due to the fact that they’re promotional efforts by companies in collaboration with Google to get sign-ups for their services. Despite this, I like to cover them so that anyone who has yet to try out the paid version of a creative app or whatnot has an opportunity to do so.
The latest lineup of Chromebook Perks seeks to get you into cloud gaming (R.I.P. Stadia) with two great offers. Both Amazon Luna+ and Nvidia GeForce NOW are on tap for 3 free months at no extra cost to you if you claim these perks from your ChromeOS device.
For Nvidia’s cloud gaming platform, you’re getting a $60 value for the highest membership tier. That’s 120fps at 1440p resolution! If you sign up for Amazon Luna+ using the aforementioned perk, you’re getting about $30 of value for 3 months of service. Because of Google’s recent cloud gaming Chromebook hardware efforts, you must own one of the new laptops to claim the Luna+ offer. I’ve listed them below for your reference.
- Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook
- Acer Chromebook 516 GE
- Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip
Of course, choosing to grab the freebies (new users only) means that you’ll start paying thereafter once your free trials end, so if you’re in it to test out cloud gaming and see what all the hype is about, mark your calendar to avoid being charged. Both Nvidia GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna+ offer hundreds of great games, but unlike Stadia, GeForce suffers from a lack of controller-supported titles and Luna tries to nickel and dime you for additional “channels”. I’m quickly starting to miss Stadia, and it’s not even gone yet.
