In just two days, Sega’s fanbase will have another title on Google Stadia to enjoy. Joining Football Manager 2020, the publisher will bring their beloved and long-running Valkyria Chronicles series to the platform with the Valkyria Chronicles 4: Complete Edition on Tuesday, December 6, 2020. The game is popular with tactical strategy game fans. Being a lover of the genre myself (I’m obsessed with Final Fantasy Tactics), I’m definitely going to be picking this up!
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is an action-strategy RPG that requires you to navigate the battlefield of the second European War using turn-based mechanics. Once you choose where you’d like to go, you’re free to run around within those confines in third-person mode until you run out of Command Points. The Complete Edition that’s coming to Stadia includes a bunch of bonus content including more missions and story content. Over the past few years, the game has sold over a million copies, so it’s sure to be a fine addition to the Stadia lineup.
The original game came out on Sony’s Playstation 3 in 2008 and has since seen several new entries and remasters. Having a scribbly anime art style and taking heavy visual influence from other war games, it’s carved out a unique and largely unexplored space for itself in the genre. Even if you’re not into anime, I recommend you give this game a shot – Stadia has a little something for everyone, but it’s always good to broaden your horizons!
Hundreds of miles away from Gallia lies a battlefield with tales of sacrifice hidden beyond the snow, waiting to be uncovered. The commander of Squad E will test his will against the bonds of his allies, the weight of their trust, and the sacrifices they all must make. This is a tale of a bittersweet adolescence: the failures and triumphs of young hearts struggling to find themselves amidst the chaos of the battlefield. Prepare for the second Europan war in Valkyria Chronicles 4!
