The HP Googlebook 14 is official: Snapdragon X Elite power, 3K OLED, and 19-hour battery

Along with a full array of Googlebooks from the other major OEMs, HP has officially pulled back the curtain on the HP Googlebook 14.

While we have already broken down the full Googlebook hardware fleet overview and explored the software architecture in our deeper dive on Googlebook OS, this laptop represents a massive pillar in Google’s new desktop strategy. HP has long been a premium partner in the ChromeOS ecosystem, but with the HP Googlebook 14, they are aiming squarely at a higher-tier level of productivity, pairing Qualcomm’s top-tier ARM silicon with a remarkably sleek, sustainable chassis.

Measuring a wildly thin 10.91mm (0.43 inches) and weighing in at 2.74 pounds, the HP Googlebook 14 is engineered for pure mobility without compromising on processing muscle or endurance.

12-core Snapdragon X Elite and vapor chamber cooling

Under the hood sits Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100) processor, featuring 12 performance cores boosting up to 4.0 GHz alongside an Adreno GPU and a dedicated Hexagon NPU capable of 45 TOPS of on-device AI performance.

To keep that silicon operating at peak efficiency without aggressive fan noise, HP integrated a custom vapor chamber cooling system. The laptop can be configured with up to 32GB of blazing-fast LPDDR5x RAM (8448 MT/s) and up to a 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD (with 256GB and 512GB tiers also available).

Because of that high-efficiency ARM architecture, HP rates the 4-cell 70Wh battery for up to 19 hours of battery life. When you do need to top off, the included 65W USB-C GaN power adapter supports fast charging, bringing the laptop from empty to 50% capacity in approximately 45 minutes.

A 120Hz 3K OLED canvas and full biometric security

On the visual front, the HP Googlebook 14 features a gorgeous 14-inch 16:10 display boasting a 91% screen-to-body ratio, surrounded by edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The premier display tier is a 3K (2880 x 1800) OLED multitouch panel pushing 500 nits of brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and a variable refresh rate reaching up to 120Hz. For buyers seeking a simpler configuration, HP will also offer a 2K (1920 x 1200) OLED multitouch option rated at 300 nits.

HP also delivered one of the most complete audio and video packages in the room:

• 5MP Webcam: Features temporal noise reduction, integrated dual-array digital microphones, and a physical privacy shutter switch on the top bezel.
• Dual Biometric Authentication: Both a built-in fingerprint reader and IR facial recognition supported through Googlebook Face Unlock, allowing instant, zero-touch logins the second you open the lid.
• Audio Setup: Quad stereo speakers powered by HP Audio Boost 2.0.
• Inputs: A massive, smooth glass haptic touchpad alongside a full-sized backlit keyboard.

Of course, the laptop lid prominently features the signature Googlebook Glowbar, giving you an immediate view of battery levels and charging animations without needing to open the device.

Refined connectivity and sustainable design

Finished in an understated, executive “Atmospheric Blue” colorway, HP constructed the chassis using recycled metals across the entire chassis, paired with post-consumer recycled plastics in the keyboard assembly and ocean-bound plastics inside the bezels and speaker enclosures. It holds both ENERGY STAR certification and EPEAT Gold with Climate+ registration. For ports and wireless connectivity, the HP Googlebook 14 includes:

• 2 x USB Type-C ports (10Gbps signaling rate, USB Power Delivery 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.4 supporting up to two external UHD monitors)
• 1 x 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack
• Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Wi-Fi 7 (2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4

Pricing and availability

The HP Googlebook 14 is scheduled to hit retail shelves in October, with starting prices beginning at $1,199.99 at HP.com and Best Buy.
