After months of teases at events like Google I/O and MWC, followed by a rumored October 21st launch date, we finally have our best look yet at the hardware powering Samsung’s first Android XR headset. A new leak from Android Headlines has detailed the core specs of the “Project Moohan” device, and it’s clear Samsung is aiming directly at the top of the market with a display that could be even sharper than what’s in the Apple Vision Pro.
The headline feature from this leak is undoubtedly the display. The report claims the headset will feature a 4K micro-OLED display with a stunning 4,032 pixels per inch (ppi). For context, the highly praised display in the Apple Vision Pro comes in at 3,386 ppi. If this spec holds true, Samsung will have a hardware advantage in visual fidelity right out of the gate.

Powering those pixels will reportedly be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 processor, a chip capable of driving 4.3K resolution per eye at a smooth 90 frames per second. This is all part of the grand collaboration between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm to build the first true hardware and software competitor to Apple’s immersive computing platform.
Many of the other leaked details track with what we’ve heard and seen in the past. The device will reportedly be controlled via hand, eye, and voice tracking, with Gemini AI built in for assistance. The leak also mentions a dial to adjust the head strap, comfortable-looking cushioning, and detachable light shields to block out your environment.
However, the leak also points to what might be a potential weak spot: battery life. The report suggests the headset will get up to two hours of general use, or 2.5 hours of video playback from an external battery pack. At 545 grams, it’s a bit lighter than the Vision Pro, but that battery life appears to be about the same.

The leak also included a screenshot of the One UI XR interface, showing a mix of Samsung and Google apps, including the Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps, and even Netflix, signaling a strong content push from day one. With the rumored October 21st launch just a couple of weeks away, we won’t have to wait much longer to see how this impressive-looking spec sheet translates into a real-world experience!
