Lenovo’s compact and powerful Legion Tab Gen 3 is currently marked down to $399 directly on their website. This is a huge discount from its original retail price and makes it one of the most compelling small Android tablets on the market right now.
But with a new model on the horizon, is it still worth buying? At MWC in Barcelona last month, Lenovo officially unveiled the upcoming Legion Tab Gen 5, confirming that they are skipping a Gen 4 release in the US entirely. That new tablet is scheduled to launch this May, but it is going to come with a hefty $849 starting price.
And while the upcoming Gen 5 certainly packs some impressive upgrades—including the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 9,000 mAh battery, and a sharper 3K 165Hz display—it is incredibly hard to justify spending an extra $450 when you look at what the Gen 3 already brings to the table.
The Gen 3 is still a total powerhouse, packing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 12GB of RAM, and a stunning 2.5K 165Hz screen of its own. It handles gaming, media consumption, and multitasking with absolute ease, all in an 8.8-inch form factor you can comfortably hold in one hand.
For most people, I think pocketing that $450 savings is the smartest move. Unless you are a hardcore mobile gamer who absolutely needs the latest silicon and a new Surge colorway, the $399 Legion Tab Gen 3 is easily the one that I’d recommend picking up!
