Mobile World Congress 2025 has provided another look at Samsung’s Project Moohan, an XR headset that the company has been developing in collaboration with Google. This device is likely to be the first to utilize the Android XR platform, a system designed to power both headsets and smart glasses.
While it appears Samsung’s booth at MWC doesn’t include hands-on demos, they are at least allowing attendees to get a closer look at the hardware itself. Samsung said in a press release published yesterday that they would “unveil” Project Moohan at MWC and maybe there is more to come, but for now, it looks like this arms-length display is all we’re going to get.
To get you up to speed, Project Moohan, named after the Korean word for infinity, is an over-the-head, goggles-style device reminiscent of the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung is promising a wide field of view and high-quality displays for truly immersive experiences. Samsung envisions users navigating through Google Maps, enjoying enhanced sports events, getting work done (hopefully on a Chromebook), and leveraging Gemini to get things done, all within this XR environment.

So, while there’s not a ton of new information, observations from the trade show floor reveal a few more details. Four cameras are prominently visible on the front of the headset, alongside capacitive control strips on the stems. The connection point on the left side of the headset is also clearly visible. Although no one has been able to try on the device, the fabrics and the padding do appear to be quality, so I hope this means the device will be comfortable for longer sessions. But, unfortunately, aside from this “closer” look, it sounds like Samsung has remained tight-lipped about the device’s specifications and other technical details.
While the headset itself is intriguing, I still think the potential of Android XR in smart glasses from Samsung is equally compelling. The prospect of a lighter, more discreet form factor for XR experiences raises many questions about future applications and user adoption. Google has been investing heavily in Android XR so I’m hopeful that a variety of headsets are on the way, not just from Samsung, but from several manufacturers like HTC.
Project Moohan is expected to be unveiled in greater detail later this year, with a potential launch following. What are your thoughts on this “Project Moohan” headset? Are you excited to get an Android version of the Apple Vision Pro? Let me know in the comments below.
