Rather than spending hours manually drafting flashcards or typing out practice questions to study for an upcoming exam, students can now use Gemini to build custom practice quizzes in seconds.

Inside Google Forms, users can open the “Help me create” prompt panel and describe the type of quiz they need. Crucially, you aren’t limited to generic text prompts – you can attach reference files directly from Google Drive, including class notes in Google Docs, study decks in Google Slides, or PDF reading materials.

Gemini then parses those source documents and automatically constructs a complete quiz tailored to the material, complete with:

• Configured answer keys: Automatically assigning correct answers so students get instant feedback when self-testing.
• Diverse question formats: Support for multiple choice, checkboxes, and grid question types to mirror actual classroom testing styles.
• Full preview and editing control: Allowing users to review, tweak, or add questions before finalizing the form.

Why this matters for real-world study habits

In my experience testing digital learning tools, the biggest hurdle to effective studying isn’t a lack of material; it’s the friction of turning dense notes into active recall practice.

For high school and college students managing heavy course loads, being able to take a teacher’s PDF study guide or a semester’s worth of Google Docs notes and instantly convert them into a self-grading practice exam is an incredible study hack. The new quiz generation features in Google Forms started rolling out on July 24, 2026, for Rapid Release domains, with Scheduled Release domains following on August 5, 2026 (taking up to 15 days for full visibility).

The feature is available across a wide range of tiers, including Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Education Plus, and consumer Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as Google AI Pro for Education add-on accounts.
