High-res ASUS Googlebook renders have leaked, and this thing looks gorgeous

Earlier this week, we covered the initial leaks surrounding the ASUS Googlebook CX9406 – a 2.2-pound ceramic-alloy beast packing Intel’s next-gen Panther Lake (Core Ultra Series) silicon, up to 64GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and Google’s now-signature lid-mounted Glowbar.

Now, Digital Citizen has published the complete, full-resolution product image set for the new ASUS-made Googlebook. Beyond confirming the ultra-premium dark carbon aesthetic we saw in earlier, lower-res images, these crystal-clear images reveal a few critical hardware details we couldn’t see before.

Unlike Lenovo’s 15-inch Googlebook leak – which has their now-signature top display notch to house the camera hardware – ASUS kept their Googlebook’s top display bezel thin and completely notch-free. And embedded directly inside that slim top bezel is a physical, mechanical webcam privacy shutter.

The high-resolution shots also give us our sharpest look yet at ASUS’ take on Google’s mandated Glowbar light strip. Positioned centered on the outer lid directly above the ASUS logo, this clean Glowbar integration blends perfectly with ASUS’ dark matte ceramic-alloy lid. Much like the notification and charging indicators on recent Pixel hardware, the Glowbar should provide clear, at-a-glance status prompts even when the laptop lid is closed.

With these full-res images helping to fill in the remaining visual blanks, here is a quick reminder of the complete spec profile for the ASUS Googlebook CX9406:

Seeing press-ready product renders circulating for both Lenovo and ASUS hardware confirms that the initial fall launch window is rapidly approaching. We expect ASUS to formally unveil their Googlebook alongside its competing OEM partners at some point in September; and while I’m never a fan of wishing time away, I can’t wait!
