The World Health Organization, or WHO, is partnering with Google among many other tech and gaming giants to unite gamers during a time when they can’t physically meet with the #PlayApartTogether initiative. By curating a list of games across many participating developer’s catalogs on the Google Play Store, Google aims to keep people indoors and help slow the spread of COVID-19.
WHO’s main goal here is to educate people en masse through these partnerships about the importance of social distancing, hand washing and other health precautions and practices.
On the collection’s page, Google states that the initiative will feature special events, exclusives, activities and even rewards for many popular games such as Call of Duty Mobile, Trivia Crack 1 and 2, Riot Game’s new gem; Team Fight Tactics, various Angry Birds games, card and casino games, The Walking Dead Road to Survival, Marvel Strike Force and more.
Everything featured here is free, as is Google’s tradition for helping people through hard times, but that also means you won’t be able to win any Play Points from purchases. Not a bad trade off, if we’re being honest. We haven’t found much value in Play Points yet, but we will be revisiting them soon to give you a full rundown.
Use the hashtag #PlayApartTogether across social media, Youtube Gaming and more to connect with others who are playing from home (That would be everyone) and of course to find some great new games to play!
