I really enjoy gaming on Stadia, but the one thing my soul yearns for is a good MMORPG on the service. The ability to pick up and play a game with millions of other people on any device I’m using, almost no matter where I go is what’s missing for me. I picked up Elder Scrolls Online on my PC last year to play with my best friend and again on my PS4 for the convenience of sitting on my couch with a controller, but I kept running out of space on my PC and I’m never really on my couch. I also ditched both at the time to make room for more story driven single player RPGs. I’m happy to announce that we no longer have to choose between storage space and fun because The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor just received a trailer and a release date for Stadia!
In this installment to the franchise, you’ll dive into the perilous depths of the long-forgotten Blackreach – a place deep within Tamriel filled with terrible monsters which are led by a Vampire Lord who is intent on devouring souls. As darkness consumes the land, you’ll play the hero that Skyrim needs to restore the light.
Greymoor will be free to play for Stadia Pro members starting on June 16th and will have you venturing into the frozen mountains of Skyrim a thousand years before the events of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim even took place. It will include all of Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr and Greymoor, but If you’re not a Pro member, you’ll have to either subscribe to ESO for $14.99 per month or buy each expansion individually as DLC from the Stadia store.
The fact that the game will have cross-play and even allow me to transfer my character from the PC version via cross-progression is already enough to win me over. Now, I can pick up where I left off without having to start all over again. Whew!
The Elder Scrolls Online is one of the most popular MMORPGs to exist today. I’m hoping that this release encourages Square Enix to release Final Fantasy XIV Online for Stadia as well, because aside from ESO, Final Fantasy is the only game I will literally never put down. I hardly got a chance to play it for the same reasons which is a shame, really, because both games are chalk full of content. I suppose it’s just a testament to the fact that the way many of us consume gaming content is changing these days.
Let us know in the comments below how stoked you are for The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor to release on Stadia! Which device in your home do you see yourself playing on the most?
