Games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild are all the rage these days. Visually speaking, it’s the epitome of cel-shading with vibrant, poppy colors. Windbound seems to be the latest entry into that style and in its announcement trailer it was subtly shown to be on its way to Stadia! Their website mentions nothing of Google’s platform, but the end of the trailer puts the Stadia logo up at the bottom of the pre-order bonuses screen.

The trailer shows a number of interesting mechanics, none of which we’re strangers to at this point. As Kara, you’ll navigate an alternate reality Bronze age style era using your customized seacraft to discover forbidden islands with mysterious secrets as you live off of the land in order to survive. You can hunt using a bow and arrow or a slingshot, chop down trees, mine for precious metals and more.

The game has a very peaceful vibe to it. We would say it feels more like Moana crossed with Tequila Works’ Rime than anything, but Breath of the Wild is the obvious comparison, especially given the fact that many people are saying the Aussie developer, Deep Silver, ripped off Zelda’s glider almost exactly. We say there’s nothing wrong with being inspired by something you love.

A new day dawns on the Forbidden Islands. Kara, driven to find the path that leads her back to her tribe, pushes on in her extraordinary odyssey into the unknown.

The islands are alive with magic and enchantment telling the tales of their origin and revealing the role Kara unknowingly plays in it as each artifact that she unearths unlocks a new clue to her past.

Witness Kara’s evolution in survival as she scavenges for resources and gains the skills to craft and equip her with the ultimate sea vessel and the strongest combat-ready attire and weaponry. Increasingly ferocious battles on land and now at sea will transform her into the hardened warrior she was born to become.

All the while, a storm unlike any she has ever seen, is pulling her through the treacherous waters to face a mystical presence that lies beneath the sea.

Windbound launches everywhere on Stadia and Nintendo Switch on August 28th. As a pre-order bonus, you will receive an ancestral knife, an ancestral ore, and ancestral attire. We’re looking forward to this game! What about you? Let us know in the comments below.
