Leaks have surfaced, and they point to a significant shift for the base model Pixel 10. According to renders from OnLeaks, published by Android Headlines, Google may be poised to equip the standard Pixel 10 with a triple rear camera setup that matches the Pro models.

The visual evidence is compelling. The renders showcase a design strikingly similar to the Pixel 9, but with a notable expansion of the rear camera bar’s glass pane. This widened area strongly suggests the inclusion of a third lens.

Alexander Maxham of Android Headlines, in correspondence with The Verge, indicates that the additional camera appears to be a compact periscope telephoto lens. This would be a welcome addition, as the Pixel 9 currently offers only main and ultrawide lenses, leaving telephoto capabilities exclusive to the Pro models.

This all comes on the heels of fresh new Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL renders that leaked earlier today. If this is true, it will be very interesting to see what Google does to differentiate between the similarly-sized Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro. If you are going to brand a device with the “Pro” label, there need to be reasons for it.

A bit of extra RAM and storage don’t seem like enough, so it’ll be interesting to see how this all shakes out. The good news is, if Google does in fact put a 3rd camera in the base model of the Pixel 10, that means we might be in for a couple of extra additions in the Pro models this year. There’s a lot of time still before we actually get the Pixel 10 devices in-hand, so anything could happen. Time will tell for sure.
