Sold out at Best Buy: The only place to order the ASUS Googlebook 14 right now

When we spent hands-on time with the initial Googlebook launch fleet in New York City, it was immediately clear that each OEM took a distinct approach to Google’s high-end laptop vision.

Yet, among all the clamshells on display, the ASUS Googlebook 14 turned a lot of heads. Weighing in at an unbelievable 2.18 pounds with a 0.43-inch profile, a stunning 14-inch 3K 120Hz OLED touchscreen, a nano-ceramic magnesium alloy chassis, and Intel’s Core Ultra 5 Series 3 processor under the hood, it hits a very sweet spot between featherweight portability and flagship power.

If you were hoping to secure one ahead of next week’s retail launch, however, you might have to look outside the usual channels. The ASUS Googlebook 14 appears to be seeing serious early demand, and inventory is already getting tight.

Missing from Google Store, “Coming Soon” at Best Buy

If you head over to Googlebook’s official portal, you’ll notice that the only retail partner linked for the ASUS Googlebook 14 is Best Buy. Furthermore, if you check the Google Store’s laptop hub, the ASUS model isn’t even listed alongside the Acer, Dell, and Lenovo hardware. That makes Best Buy the primary retail destination for this machine in the US.

The problem? Best Buy’s listing is currently flipped to “Coming Soon” for pre-orders, signaling that their initial launch-window allotment has already been spoken for.

ASUS eShop is the only place taking orders

Fortunately, you aren’t completely out of luck if this is the specific Googlebook you have your heart set on. Right now, the only place you can still pre-order one is directly through the official ASUS eShop USA. A few key details to keep in mind if you order directly through ASUS:

• Pricing & Configuration: It comes in at the same $1,299 MSRP as listed at Best Buy.
• The Shipping Window: While retail launch day lands on October 4, ASUS lists an estimated shipping date of October 12, 2026. That means you’ll be waiting about an extra week compared to day-one store arrivals, but it guarantees you a spot in line.
• Storage Listing Wrinkle: Interestingly, the ASUS store page currently lists the internal SSD as 256GB, whereas Best Buy and Googlebook.com advertise the $1,299 SKU with a 512GB drive. This may simply be a placeholder typo on ASUS’ store backend, but it is worth checking with ASUS to make sure before ordering. We’ve reached out to ASUS for clarification.
