After months of leaks and speculation, Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its most ambitious mobile device yet: the Galaxy Z TriFold. And this isn’t just another foldable; it folds three times and effectively puts a 10-inch tablet in your pocket.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the screen. When fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold reveals a massive 10-inch display that Samsung calls the “most immersive screen on a phone.” It essentially gives you the screen real estate of three standard 6.5-inch phones side-by-side. Despite all that glass, Samsung has engineered a marvel of slimness. At its thinnest point, the device measures just 3.9mm thick, and when folded up, it’s only 12.9mm when closed up!
Under the hood, it’s a true flagship. It’s powered by a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite, which Samsung says should deliver top-tier performance for all that multitasking. Keeping the lights on is a 5,600 mAh battery split across the three panels, supporting 45W super-fast charging. The software is optimized for heavy multitasking, allowing you to run three portrait-sized apps side-by-side.
On the back of the device, you’ll find a 200MP wide-angle main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto. You also get a 10MP selfie camera on the cover screen and the main screen.
To make this form factor work, Samsung developed a new dual-rail Armor FlexHinge system that allows the panels to fold inward securely with minimal gap. The chassis is reinforced with titanium and “Advanced Armor Aluminum” to keep it rigid and durable.
But the biggest surprise might be the inclusion of standalone Samsung DeX. For the first time on a phone, you can launch a full desktop-like environment directly on the device’s screen without needing an external monitor. You can have up to four workspaces running five apps each, and if you do connect an external monitor, you get a seamless dual-screen setup with drag-and-drop capability. Paired with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, this could be the ultimate portable workstation!
Of course, Galaxy AI and Gemini are deeply integrated, offering features like sketch-to-image, generative photo editing, and a smarter, multimodal assistant that understands what’s on your screen.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will launch first in Korea on December 12, 2025, with a wider rollout to markets including the U.S., China, and the UAE to follow. Pricing has not been officially confirmed for the US yet, but it will likely cost around the $2,500 – $3,000 mark. This is obviously very expensive, but if this could replace your phone and laptop, it might be worth it for some tech enthusiasts who want to be on the cutting edge. What are your thoughts?
