Leaked specs suggest the Samsung ‘Galaxy Z TriFold’ will be crazy thin

The pressure has been on Samsung to respond to the trifold craze, and thanks to a new leak from the reliable Evan Blass, we now have our first “confirmed” look at their answer. It’s called the “Galaxy Z TriFold,” and if these specs hold up, it’s going to be an absolute beast.

The headline feature is the screen real estate. Blass reports that the 6.5-inch cover display (2600 nits) will unfold into a massive 10-inch inner display with 1600 nits of brightness. That is effectively a full-sized tablet that folds up to fit in your pocket.

Some confirmed details:
Final, retail branding: Galaxy Z TriFold.
Displays: 6.5" cover and 10.0" inner
Peak brightness: 2600 and 1600 nits, respectively
Thickness of the leaves varies: 3.9/4.0/4.2mm
Main camera: 200MP
Rated battery capacity: 5437mAh
Powered by SD

Making a device that folds twice without becoming a brick is a huge challenge, but Samsung seems to have cracked it. The leak details variable thickness for the three panels (3.9mm, 4.0mm, and 4.2mm), resulting in a folded device that is roughly 12.1mm thick. That’s remarkably slim, beating out Huawei’s Mate XT, which is 12.8mm thick when folded.

Under the hood, it looks like the Galaxy Z TriFold will pack a 200MP main camera, a large 5,437mAh battery, and a Snapdragon SoC. As for which SoC specifically, I’d say it’s a safe assumption that it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same powerful chipset found in the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, there is some speculation that because of the late 2025 launch, it could be one of the first devices to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (the successor to the Elite). Given the rumored $3,000 price point, Samsung might want to ensure it has the absolute latest silicon, but the standard “8 Elite” is the safer bet for a device arriving in December.

This new intel also connects some dots we’ve been tracking on the software side. Just recently, we covered how One UI 8 animations seemed to reveal a new device with this exact form factor. At the time, the distinct folding shape led to speculation about a “Galaxy G Fold” moniker, but while Blass says the retail name will be the Galaxy Z TriFold, the physical design aligns perfectly with those software teasers. It’s clear Samsung has been baking support for this unique three-pane layout into its OS for quite some time, ensuring the software is ready to handle that massive 10-inch canvas the moment it unfolds.

While rumors have shifted, the latest reports point to a launch event in Korea on December 5th. Just be prepared for sticker shock; early estimates peg the price at around $3,000. It’s a steep price for sure, but for a device that truly blurs the line between phone and tablet, it might just be the ultimate power user gadget. We’ll be watching closely for the official reveal next month.
