Just a few days ago, we posted about an educator who decided to take the Samsung Chromebook Plus through a very rigorous (read: torturous) drop test.
In it, we all got to see how durable the Plus actually is despite the thin, light chassis.
A discussion that emerged in the comments, however, took the direction that the Chromebook Pro would somehow be less durable than the Plus that was dropped numerous times in the video. The thought behind this was the idea that the Pro is built considerably different inside and thus could be more brittle than the Plus.
From the video, it seemed clear that the tester was intending to continue using the Pro as a daily driver, so he couldn’t put that sort of beating on his main device.
Having no real way to test all of this ourselves, we were left to wonder if the internals of the Pro were different from those of the Plus or similar.
Well, wonder no more. Below you’ll see a quick video by the same guy with both the Plus and Pro opened up side by side. Not shockingly, the internals are nearly identical and the battery pack in each is the exact same. Apart from a few variations to certain buses and plugs on the motherboard, they are basically identical.
Check it out for yourself.

I don’t know how soon we’ll see someone chucking their Samsung Chromebook Pro on the ground from various heights, but it stands to reason that it will hold up just as well as its brother when it comes to drops.
