Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Teasers confirm the design, but a new leak details the specs

With Google’s big hardware event just around the corner on August 20th, the company is kicking things into high gear. First up, Google has dropped two brief video teasers for its next foldable, giving us an official, albeit shadowy, look at the device. And while these teasers confirm the general design, a massive new leak from the German site WinFuture has just filled in nearly all the blanks on specs, price, and a potential release date.

What Google’s official teasers show

The 30-second teasers confirm that the new foldable will hew closely to the design of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, featuring a prominent camera bar on the back. We get a quick glimpse of the unfolded inner display and a solid look at the phone in a nice gray color, similar to what’s been shown for the standard Pixel 10.

A new leak fills in the blanks

While Google’s official look was brief, the new leak from WinFuture details nearly everything else. This spec sheet aligns with many existing rumors but clarifies a few key areas and introduces some confusing new details.

The leak appears to confirm that the outer screen will be 6.4 inches, while the inner folding display will measure 8 inches. Both displays will reportedly feature a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, making them about 10% brighter than the displays on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The report also lists the wired charging speed at 30W, a nice bump from the 24W we’d seen in other leaks. It looks like the Pixel 10 Pro Golf will also feature 15W Qi2 wireless charging, which is expected to work with Google’s rumored magnetic “Pixel Snap” accessories.

A confusing camera situation

This is where things get a bit strange. The spec sheet details a camera setup that is mostly identical to last year’s model, with a 48MP main camera, a 10.5MP ultrawide, and a 10MP selfie camera on both screens. It also lists a 10.8MP 5x telephoto lens, the same as the one found on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

However, in the same report, WinFuture also states that the phone is capable of 10x optical, or lossless, zoom. This is a direct contradiction that is difficult to explain. It’s unclear if this is a typo or if Google is using some new sensor-cropping or software magic to achieve a higher lossless zoom from the same 5x hardware. We’ll have to wait for the official reveal to clear this one up.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold Price, Release Date, and the Big Picture

So what does this all add up to? The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is shaping up to be a solid, if iterative, update. While we haven’t seen an official price, other recent leaks indicate that it will start at $1,799, the same as the prior generation.

While the Made By Google event is scheduled for August 20th, the phone itself might not be released until October 9th. It seems Google is giving us an early look next week, with the actual launch to follow. Despite some older hardware making a return, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will undoubtedly find its place as one of the best foldable phones available when it arrives. But what are your thoughts? Is this going to be your next phone? Let me know in the comments below.
