Though we may finally be nearing the end of virtual press events, we’re not quite out of the woods just yet. It was about this time last year that events were being cancelled and postponed left-and-right, including one of our favorite annual trips: NYC for the Next@Acer Global Press Conference. We’ve attended for the past few years and each time Acer puts on a stellar event that gives us a great reason to visit New York City. While we’d love to be traveling up there once again, the world isn’t fully back to normal at this point and Acer has opted for the online-only conference this time around.

There’s likely a lot Acer will unveil at this press event and I’d imagine that we’ll see news from their Predator gaming division, the high-end ConceptD department, and hopefully on the Chromebook front. Each year with this May event, Acer brings a few Chrome OS devices to the table, and we feel this year won’t be any different. Mainly, I’m hoping that Chromebooks get a bit more preferential treatment than they have in the past with the explosive growth and adoption we’ve seen in the past year.

I understand gaming and high-end creator-focused hardware is a big deal to the industry and to Acer, but at the end of the day, people are flat-out buying Chromebooks at a far higher rate than ever before. It would be great if that means a few extra minutes on stage and a few more words given to Chromebooks and Chrome OS at this event than we’ve seen in the past. Acer is a major player in the Chromebook space and with their knock-out hit in the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 last year, I’m excited to see what they bring to the table this time around.

Where to watch the event tomorrow

It’s at this point I suppose we should talk about the time and where to watch, right? The event is slated to begin at 9am EST tomorrow, May 27th. As far as where to watch it, we’d recommend just hanging out right here and hitting that play button around 9AM tomorrow morning. It’s what we’ll be doing and we’ll be here for all the announcements, too. It should be a packed morning full of great new hardware, so we hope you join us in watching. See you there!
