Earlier this month, Google announced the Google Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E), its first 6E-enabled router that offers real tri-band Wi-Fi for homes and high-performance Wi-Fi for home gadgets, and the next generation of phones, laptops, and other devices with advanced technology. Presale orders opened up on October 4th, and finally, today, you can buy them in stores.
For those not familiar with what sets the new Nest Wifi Pro from its predecessor, this generation uses Wi-Fi 6E, a new technology with several advantages, such as:
- 5.4 Gbps (4.2 Gbps outside the US) combined device speeds with a new 6 GHz wireless radio.
- Wider 6 GHz channels with less radio interference for speedier Wi-Fi 6E devices.
- Improved network performance regardless of the client device’s 6 GHz capability.
- Support for next-generation phones, computers, and more.
Existing Nest Wifi owners in the US, UK, DE, FR & CA that are subscribed to get emails from the Google Nest Community, should receive an email with a personal discount code of 30% to be used to upgrade to a new Nest Wifi Pro. This is a special offer that begins today and will go on for 30 days. The Google Home app will also remind you to check your email for that code.
The new Nest Wifi Pro comes in four shiny colors (Snow, Linen, Fog, Lemongrass) and retails for $199.99 for a 1-pack, $299.99 for a 2-pack, and $399 for a 3-pack, although the colors and prices do vary depending on the region.
