We have been tracking Lenovo’s upcoming detachable tablet – codenamed “Sapphire” and officially dubbed the Lenovo Googlebook Duet m – for months now. While we have spent the last few weeks getting to know all five launch Googlebooks, this 13-inch OLED detachable has remained the most intriguing piece of unreleased hardware from that initial wave.

Now, another major regulatory domino has fallen. As spotted by GbookHub, the dedicated detachable keyboard for the Googlebook Duet m has officially surfaced at the FCC, signaling that Lenovo is checking off the final boxes ahead of a retail release.

While previous high-resolution render leaks already tipped us off to the keyboard’s design and its three-stage physical side switch, this new FCC filing puts hard documentation behind those leaks. It locks in the official model numbers, gives us a look at the structural schematics, and raises a very interesting question about when Google and Lenovo actually plan to put this thing on shelves.

What the new FCC filing confirms and reveals

The newly published regulatory documents register the accessory under model name DUET13BTKB (with FCC ID O57DUET13BTKB). Right away, that model designation leaves zero mystery about what is inside, with “BTKB” clearly standing for Bluetooth Keyboard.

Alongside ID label placement schematics that map out the full key layout, trackpad footprint, and top-edge connector housing, the filing includes an official Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) test report. Together with the visible pogo-pin connectors in the diagrams, the regulatory testing officially confirms what the leaked renders already showed us: this is a dual-mode keyboard with an internal battery that works both physically snapped to the tablet and detached over wireless Bluetooth.

The filing doesn’t spill any new internal specs for the main tablet body because it doesn’t really need to. Between earlier leaks and regulatory certifications – including the recently cleared Lenovo Pen Pro for Googlebook – the spec sheet for the Duet M is already well established:

  • Display: 13.0-inch OLED touch panel
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity CX C10 Max (formerly tracked as the Kompanio Ultra 910)
  • Memory: 16GB LPDDR5X RAM
  • Storage: UFS 4.0 flash storage
  • Connectivity: 2x USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4
  • Biometrics: Dedicated fingerprint sensor
  • Accessories: Dual-mode detachable keyboard (DUET13BTKB) and Lenovo Pen Pro for Googlebook support

What this means for a release window and Googlebook OS tablet mode

Under normal circumstances, watching both the active stylus and the in-box detachable keyboard pass through the FCC in late October would mean an immediate launch is right around the corner. Accessories are almost always the final hardware components to clear regulatory testing before retail boxes start shipping out for the holiday window.

From a pure hardware standpoint, Lenovo looks ready to launch the Googlebook Duet m before the end of the year. The bigger question mark sits entirely on the software side. Having lived on the Lenovo Googlebook 15 and ASUS Googlebook 14 daily since launch, it is obvious that Googlebook OS still needs some serious polish. We are still waiting on fundamental desktop parity fixes for things like Virtual Desks and the Files app just on standard clamshell laptops.

Shipping a flagship detachable means Googlebook OS also has to nail the transition between a desktop-class multi-window workspace and a clean, intuitive touch-first tablet mode the second you pull that keyboard off. Right now, the platform clearly needs more work on that front. Whether Lenovo pushes the Duet m out the door in November and December as hardware is ready, or holds it back until early 2027 at CES to give Google a couple more update cycles to iron out the tablet experience, we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
