When Google introduced its latest image editing model, Nano Banana, in the Gemini app a couple of months ago, the internet was blown away by its power and creative potential – with creators already generating over 5 billion images with it to date.

Now, in a fantastic move to make this powerful tool even more accessible, Google has announced that it is bringing Nano Banana to Google Search and NotebookLM, with an integration for Google Photos coming soon. This is all about taking one of its best generative AI tools and putting it right where users are already exploring, learning, and creating.

Instantly transform images right in Google Search

This is a huge new capability for visual search. You’ll now be able to snap a photo with Google Lens (or select one from your gallery) and then tap a new “Create mode” to instantly begin transforming your image with AI. This brings the full creative power of Nano Banana’s image editing directly into the search experience, allowing you to edit and reimagine visuals on the fly as you explore the world around you.

Making NotebookLM’s Video Overviews even better

In NotebookLM, Nano Banana is now working under the hood to make the excellent Video Overviews feature even more helpful and visually engaging. The new model brings three key improvements:

  • 6 new visual styles for your overviews, including watercolor and anime.
  • The ability to generate contextual illustrations based on your source materials.
  • A new, shorter “Brief” format for when you just need the quick insights from a video.

Coming soon to Google Photos

Finally, Google also teased that Nano Banana will be making its way to Google Photos in the coming weeks. While no specific details were shared, this is the most natural fit of all. We can’t wait to see how this powerful image editing and generation model will be integrated into the world’s most popular photo management app.

This is a fantastic expansion that puts one of Google’s best creative AI tools into the hands of a much wider audience. By embedding Nano Banana directly into products like Search and NotebookLM, Google is making its AI more contextual, more accessible, and more useful than ever.
