Google confirms Googlebook pre-orders start on September 21

Less than twenty-four hours before Google takes the stage in New York City to officially unveil Googlebook to the media, the timeline for when you can actually buy one has finally been locked in.

Earlier today, Google sent out an email blast to users who registered for updates on the platform, and while I haven’t seen the email hit my personal inbox just yet, folks over in our Chrome Unboxed Plus Discord community began flagging it almost immediately. Additionally, Google has shared a quick video over on YouTube that confirms pre-orders for the first wave of Googlebooks will officially kick off on Monday, September 21 at 9 a.m. ET.

Google also updated its official Googlebook landing page, putting up a fresh video teaser that gives us a quick, new tease of what we expect to see tomorrow. And finally, we can also start referring to the morning of September 21st as the end of the embargo and the official time you can expect to see our coverage of tomorrow’s event.

Apart from the verification of the pre-order date, a quick new video, and the fact that we can openly talk about the embargo lifting on September 21st, there’s not much new to glean from this change on the site or via the email.

The best news is you have less than a week to wait to see everything Google has been cooking up in their new laptops. We’ve talked A LOT about Googlebook over the past few months, and we even have a Googlebook 101 for those of you just now getting on board that can quickly get you caught up on all we know going into the event tomorrow.

We’re beyond excited and I absolutely cannot wait to gather all we can at the event tomorrow and get that content in front of all of you as soon as we can. It’s a big moment for the Google laptop ecosystem, and here’s hoping Google has a ton to share with us about the software, the hardware, and the ecosystem tie-ins we’ll all soon experience with Googlebook.
