Fall is here, bringing fiery leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and the perfect excuse to get a little spooky and creative. Whether you’re planning a Halloween party, brainstorming costume ideas, or just want to add some festive flair to your photos, Google’s suite of powerful AI tools is ready to help you bring your vision to life.

From generating ghostly portraits to turning your pet into a costumed character, here are five fun ways you can use Google AI to get into the Halloween spirit:

1. Conjure spooky scenes with Nano Banana

Google’s latest image generation model, Nano Banana (available in the Gemini app), is incredibly powerful for creating unique visuals. Try these ideas:

  • Ghostly Portraits: Upload a selfie and ask Nano Banana to transform you into a “semi-skeletal spectral translucent Victorian ghost” for a creepy, vintage look.
  • Party Invites & Posters: Describe the vibe you want, provide the details, and let Nano Banana generate a custom, creepy party invitation or even a nostalgic scary movie poster starring you.
  • Costumed Critters: Want to see your cat as a wizard? Just ask! Nano Banana can generate the image, and you can then even use Gemini’s Storybook feature to build a whole narrative around your costumed pet.

2. Give your photos a Halloween Remix in Google Photos

The Remix feature in Google Photos uses AI to restyle your existing photos in fun ways like anime or sketch. Now, there’s a new Halloween Remix option available in the Create tab, perfect for adding a spooky touch to your favorite pics. (While you’re there, check out the other new styles like Claymation and Pixel Art!) . Android users in the U.S. can also use the conversational “Help me edit” feature for festive tweaks.

3. Brainstorm costumes with Mixboard

Stuck on a costume idea? Google Labs’ Mixboard experiment is a great tool for visualizing and exploring concepts. Feed it a basic idea – whether for yourself, a group, or even your pet – and see what creative variations it comes up with to spark your imagination.

4. Create short scary movies with Veo

Want to take your visuals to the next level? Google’s state-of-the-art video generation model, Veo 3.1 (available in Flow and the Gemini app), can turn images or text prompts into short, cinematic clips with sound. Try turning a spooky photo into a moving portrait or describe a short, scary scene from scratch. You can also go the less spooky route and generate a cute, autumn-themed video greeting.

5. Design pumpkin carving stencils with Canvas

Even pumpkin carving can get an AI boost! Gemini’s Canvas tool, which turns ideas into interactive apps and visualizations, can take an image (like your selfie!) and generate a custom pumpkin carving template for you. Just ask it to “make an app that turns my selfie into a jack-o’-lantern and gives me a design I can carve at home”. The actual carving, however, is still all you!
