This week’s GeForce NOW Thursday showed up today packed with big news. While we have a great list of new games arriving this week and throughout the month, that’s completely overshadowed by the main event: NVIDIA has just announced that it is beginning the roll-out of its NVIDIA Blackwell RTX upgrade next week on Wednesday, September 10th.

This is a massive leap forward for cloud gaming, bringing GeForce RTX 5080-powered streaming to GeForce NOW, and it’s incredible news for anyone who loves to game on their Chromebook.

The power of a cloud-based RTX 5080

This hardware upgrade is set to unlock the highest resolutions and frame rates we’ve ever seen from a cloud gaming service. But the most exciting part for competitive players will be the new high-performance modes, which will enable streaming at an insane 360 frames per second or 240 fps at sub-30-millisecond low latency. This is the kind of performance that puts cloud gaming on a level playing field with high-end local hardware.

The upgrade will also unlock a massive library of over 2,200 new “Install-to-Play” titles, and NVIDIA also teased that the highly anticipated shooter Battlefield 6 will be launching in the cloud this October.

New games to play right now

While we wait for the Blackwell rollout to begin next week, there are some fantastic new games hitting the service today. Headlining the list is the brand-new, visually stunning AAA title Hell Is Us, which is hitting the cloud on its launch day. It’s joined by the hugely anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Here’s the full list of the 5 games available to play today:

  • Hell Is Us
  • METAL EDEN
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • Cataclismo
  • Cronos: The New Dawn

The rest of a stacked September

The rest of the month is also packed with 12 more games on the way, including big names like Borderlands 4 and Dying Light: The Beast. It’s a fantastic month for new titles, but the real story is the hardware. Mark your calendars for the special GFN Thursday next Wednesday, as the next evolution of cloud gaming officially begins.
