Your Chrome History will become more visual with easily identifiable images for Journeys

Chrome’s new “History Journeys” feature seeks to cluster together your browser history and help you pick up where you left off based on the search query or topic. It’s the first modernization of the staple feature and quite honestly, I like it. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s been very useful so far, for myself, at least. Until Google generates more accurate Journeys with clusters that make a lot more sense to the actual experience of using it, I don’t see it becoming something many use. However, that doesn’t mean it’s dead.

In an updated flag discovered by Leopeva 64 on Twitter (1,2), images are being added to Journeys to make them easier to identify at a glance. While we don’t yet know what it will look like exactly, you can see in the example below the images tied to Omnibox suggestions in Chrome. Leopeva64 believes that they will be something similar to this feature, and I’m inclined to agree.

If you ask me, I think that development on Journeys is progressing much too slowly for my taste, but Google does tend to take between six months and two years to release a feature in full from the time we discover them. I just hope that when the time comes, the tool is both easy to understand for end users and useful enough to be worth utilizing.
