There are quite a few low-end Chromebooks that come and go over time. There are many of them we’ve not unboxed and reviewed, but the Samsung is different.
Low-cost, affordable, cheap…call it what you like. This particular low-end Chromebook is widely available and already affordable. It’s getting even more so for Black Friday.
While this Chromebook doesn’t do much well, it does just enough to be a useful tool for a secondary device, for a child, or for an older relative that simply needs to get online.
The Samsung Chromebook 3 Will Be $119 on Black Friday
Yeah, $119.
That is really, really cheap. You can see that deal and others right here.
So much so, in fact, that this device gets to the point of feeling almost disposable. With a water-resistant keyboard, it can withstand a little more activity than most Chromebooks.
Again, with a pricetag like this, a device gets quite a few passes. The screen is bad: TN with poor viewing angles. The processor is slow: the slowest Braswell available. It only has 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The speakers are likely the worst I’ve ever heard.
Some Good Stuff
However, for a price that would lead you to believe it has no redeeming qualities, there are a few bright spots.
First, a water-resistant keyboard. Aimed at the kiddos, this is a huge value-add.
Second, the input methods are actually good. The keyboard feels great and the trackpad is very, very smooth with a responsive click.
Last, did I mention the price? =)
