Back in January, ASUS managed to catch me completely off guard at CES 2026 by quietly debuting a brand-new, unannounced addition to their Chromebook tablet lineup. I loved the look and feel of the ASUS Chromebook CM32 Detachable on the show floor, but walked away without a firm release date or pricing details to share.

Now, just in time for USA’s 250th birthday, this highly-anticipated tablet has officially hit retail shelves, and it is bringing a fantastic launch-day deal along with it.

A premium detachable experience

If you missed our initial hands-on coverage (you can check out our quick video recap from the CES show floor below), the CM32 really is a massive step forward for ASUS in the ChromeOS tablet space.

The star of the show is easily the screen. ASUS equipped this tablet with a gorgeous 12.1-inch 2.5K (2560×1600) display that hits a staggering 600 nits of brightness. Even better, it features a silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring that system animations and stylus inputs feel incredibly fluid. And that stylus has a magnetically-charging home right on the back of the device, too.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by the new MediaTek Kompanio 540 processor, paired with a very capable 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Wrapped in a durable MIL-STD 810H chassis and bundled with a refined magnetic kickstand and detachable keyboard, it is purpose-built to be a highly versatile, go-anywhere daily driver.

Available now and already on sale

The best news of the day is that you don’t have to wait any longer to get your hands on one, and you don’t even have to pay full MSRP to do it. The ASUS CM32 has officially landed at Best Buy with a standard retail price of $579. However, Best Buy is already including the brand-new device in its current 4th of July promotional event.

Right out of the gate, you can snag this premium detachable for just $479, marking an instant $100 savings on a device that literally just hit the market. If you have been patiently waiting for a viable, high-quality ChromeOS tablet upgrade with a truly fantastic screen, this is absolutely a deal worth jumping on.
