In case you were wondering, Google isn’t slowing down when it comes to AI. The rapid pace of evolution continues as Gemini is getting a major boost with some seriously impressive new features. This time around, we’re talking upgrades to performance, availability, and a new feature that’s all about making Gemini feel like your personal AI assistant.

2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental Gets a Level Up

If you’ve been experimenting with Gemini’s 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, you’re in for a treat. Google is rolling out an upgraded version with added features like file upload. This model is designed to really dig into prompts, breaking them down to give you better responses, and now it’s getting even faster and more efficient.

And for those of you who need to tackle massive projects, Gemini Advanced users will now have access to a 1M token context window with 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental. That’s a huge amount of information you can now analyze.

Deep Research just got even deeper

Deep Research – the feature that lets Gemini do the heavy lifting for you when it comes to online research – is getting a major upgrade with Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental. This means Gemini will be even better at every stage of research, from planning and searching to analyzing and reporting.

That means higher-quality, detailed reports, and Gemini will even show you its thought process as it browses the web. It’s pretty wild to watch. And the best part is, Deep Research is rolling out to everyone, so more people can experience the time-saving magic. Gemini users will get a few tries a month at no cost, and Gemini Advanced users get even more access.

Gemini Gets Personal

This is where things get really interesting. Gemini is about to get even more personal with a new experimental feature called – you guessed it – personalization. Powered by Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental, this feature allows Gemini to connect with your Google apps and services, starting with Search, to give you responses tailored to you.

Imagine asking for restaurant recommendations and Gemini actually factoring in your recent food-related searches. That’s the idea here. And don’t worry, you’re in control – you can disconnect your Search history from Gemini whenever you want.

Connected apps are even more powerful

Gemini is designed to work seamlessly with the Google apps you already use, and now those connected apps are getting a boost with 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental. This means Gemini can handle more complex requests that involve multiple apps.

For example, you could ask Gemini to find a cookie recipe on YouTube, add the ingredients to your shopping list, and find nearby grocery stores that are still open – all in one prompt. And coming soon, Google Photos will be joining the party, so you can have Gemini help you with tasks like creating travel itineraries from your trip photos or even reminding you when your driver’s license expires.

Gems: now for everyone

Finally, Gems, which let you customize Gemini, are rolling out to everyone at no cost. You can use pre-made Gems or create your own custom ones for just about anything – a translator, meal planner, math coach, you name it. You can even upload files to your custom Gems for even more helpful information.

It’s clear that Google is putting a lot of effort into making Gemini a truly powerful and personal AI assistant. With these new features and upgrades, Gemini continues to grow into an indispensable tool for anyone looking to boost their productivity and get things done.
