For years, music streaming services like Spotify and YouTube Music have dominated the end-of-year conversation with their colorful, shareable “Recaps” and “Wrapped” summaries. But if you are like me, you probably spend just as much (if not more) time watching videos on main YouTube as you do listening to music.
Well, the wait is finally over. In a blog post today, YouTube announced the launch of the first-ever YouTube Recap, a personalized summary of your video viewing habits from 2025.
What’s in your Recap?
Unlike the music-only versions of the past, this new Recap is designed to highlight your specific video interests, deep dives, and “eras” from the past year. It consists of a set of up to 12 different cards that spotlight:
- Top Channels & Interests: See who you watched the most and what topics grabbed your attention.
- Viewing Habits: Track the evolution of what you watched throughout the year.
- Your “Personality Type”: This is the fun, gamified part. Based on your watch history, YouTube assigns you a persona like “The Adventurer,” “Skill Builder,” “Sunshiner,” or “Wonder Seeker”.
If you also listen to a lot of music on the platform, don’t worry; your Top Artists and Songs will still be included as part of the experience, with options to dive deeper into those stats in the YouTube Music app.
How to find it
The feature is rolling out starting today for users in North America and will expand to the rest of the world later this week. You can find your Recap right on the YouTube homepage or tucked under the “You” tab. It is accessible on both mobile devices and desktop, so you can check your stats wherever you watch.
It’s great to see YouTube finally bringing this feature to the main video platform. It’s a fun way to look back at the rabbit holes we all fell down in 2025.
