We talk a lot about the best Chromebooks here, and lately, devices like the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 have been stealing the spotlight with their fantastic designs and gorgeous OLED screens. But as good as some of these newer Chromebooks are, it doesn’t take away from some devices that are a tad bit older and still absolutely fantastic to use in nearly every scenario.

If you need a device that can do it all, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is still one of the absolute best Chromebooks on the market, and right now, it is seeing a massive price drop at Best Buy, falling $220 to just $579.99.

Versatility matters

While I love a good clamshell laptop, they are a bit limited by design. They don’t flip into tablet mode for reading, they don’t stand up in tent mode for watching movies on a plane, and some of the current premium favorites completely lack a touchscreen.

The Spin 714 sacrifices almost nothing. It gives you that premium, rigid aluminum chassis and a fantastic 14-inch 16:10 screen (with 340+ nits of brightness), but it keeps the 360-degree hinge. That means you get full touch input and support for USI pens, making it a true 2-in-1 workhorse.

Premium specs

At this sale price of $579.99, the specs you are getting are honestly a steal. This isn’t a budget Chromebook; it’s powered by the 14th-gen Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and a fast 256GB SSD. You also get the creature comforts that make using it a joy:

  • QHD (1440p) Webcam: Crystal clear for video calls.
  • Port Selection: Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and USB-A (no dongles needed).
  • Backlit Keyboard & Glass Trackpad: Excellent input devices that rival much more expensive laptops.
Buy the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 at Best Buy

Acer has been refining this chassis for years, and the Spin 714 is the culmination of all that work. It is reliable, powerful, and adapts to however you want to use it. Finding a current-gen Intel Core Ultra device with this build quality for under $500 is rare, so if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to upgrade, this is it.
