If you own Google’s flagship TV Streamer, it’s time to check for an update, but you might want to temper your expectations. A new software build is now rolling out, but after a five-month wait for a new release, this latest update delivers a security patch that is already more than two months out of date.
Since its launch last year, the Google TV Streamer had been on a decent update cadence, with its security patch level staying reasonably current. But that pattern has now been broken. This new update, build number UTTK.250729.004, brings with it the August 2025 security patch. While any update is welcome, receiving an August patch in mid-October is definitely a bit disappointing.
The update itself is a small one, weighing in at just 227 MB, and the changelog is super basic.
This software update includes:
- Security Patch Updates to August 2025
- Other bug fixes and performance improvements
Whatever the case, the update is rolling out now. If you haven’t received a notification, you can manually check for it by heading to Settings > System > About > System updates on your Google TV Streamer.
