Nearly a month ahead of schedule, Acer has quietly released the powerful and premium Chromebook Spin 714 and it’s currently available from, you guessed it, Best Buy. While the eyes of the ChromeOS world may set on HP’s highly-anticipated Elite Dragonfly Chromebook, Acer has come out swinging with its latest flagship 2-in-1. Featuring a powerful 12th gen Core i5 CPU with Iris Xe graphics, the Spin 714 will be a powerhouse that’s capable of handling anything the ChromeOS ecosystem can throw at it. That includes graphic-intense tasks like Steam gaming on ChromeOS and resource-heavy Linux applications.

Like the Spin 713 before it, the new Acer Chromebook Spin 714 features a premium aluminum chassis and a 350+ nit touch display. Instead of the familiar 13.5″ screen, the 714 comes with a 16:10, 14-inch WUXGA (1920 X 1200) panel that is quickly becoming the desired standard for premium ChromeOS laptops. Another new feature on Acer’s latest flagship is a garaged, rechargeable USI stylus that pops directly from the front of the keyboard deck. With the Best Buy model, you’ll also get 8GB of RAM and a hearty 256GB of NVMe storage.

This version of the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 will go toe-to-toe with similar models from other manufacturers that release premium consumer models in the $600-$1000 price range. This is exactly where Acer’s new Chromebook is going to be the device to beat for 2022. HP’s Elite Dragonfly is as premium as they come but it also carries with it a very premium price tag. Even Lenovo’s newest clamshell with a 12th Gen CPU is priced at just over $1,000. Acer’s new flagship, however, has just launched at $729 which is $20 less than we originally thought and a mere $30 more than last year’s 11th Gen Spin 713. At that price, the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 could be the best overall value for a Chromebook this year. You can pick one up today directly from Best Buy at the link below.
