Another day, another tidbit about our favorite mystery Chromebook. While what we know thus far about ‘Kevin’ can be found in this prior post, each new detail brings us a bit closer to knowing what this Chromebook will be.
You can take a look at this commit and see clear reference not to just generic stylus support (as seen here), but a much more specific reference to a Wacom touchscreen being tested with ‘Kevin’. While this is not a huge update, it is pretty awesome to know that ‘Kevin’ will include a legitimate writing peripheral from a company that has been in the active stylus game for some time.
For those unaware, Wacom has been around since 1983, providing active digitizers and styluses for numerous devices including handhelds and tablets. The modern active stylus (like in the Samsung Note series or the Surface devices) that we know today are around in large part due to Wacom’s influence and ingenuity. They’ve been successful at this for a long time.
Knowing this will be a stow-able stylus also makes this a pretty sweet deal. Again, we are very excited for ‘Kevin’ to become a reality in the near future and we’ll continue to report on anything we find in the meantime.
