Unboxing the MediaTek Summit 2020 surprise box [Giveaway]

November 6, 2020 By Gabriel Brangers View Comments

On November 10th, MediaTek will hold its annual Summit that is slated to kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET. with closing remarks wrapping up around noon. While a good majority of the virtual Summit will focus on MediaTek’s Global market strategy, you can rest assured that the ARM chipmaker will spend a little time talking about the company’s latest Dimensity CPUs and its upcoming 6nm 8195 processor that is being designed specifically with Chrome OS in mind.

You may not be that familiar, if at all with MediaTek but chances are good that you have a smart device, IoT, or another piece of tech around that is powered by the company’s chips. One good example is the Lenovo Smart Clock that houses a MediaTek 8167S chip. Of course, MediaTek is no stranger to the Chromebook market. With the announcement of the Acer Chromebook R13, MediaTek began its trek to becoming the first name in ARM-powered Chrome OS devices. (This same processor also happens to power Peloton Bikes. Crazy, I know.) MediaTek strengthened its Chromebook game with the release of the octa-core MT8183 that runs the Lenovo Chromebook Duet and a handful of other devices that will soon hit the market.

We just found out about the 2020 MediaTek Summit late last week but I was lucky enough to connect with a PR representative who was able to get us signed up for the virtual event. We’ll be covering any and all relevant news from the Summit and we’re hoping to get a sneak peek into MediaTek’s future roadmap for Chrome OS. In a very unexpected surprise, MediaTek sent us over a giant box of stuff to highlight the company’s diverse resume and we decided to do what we do best by doing and unboxing. Believe me, you’ll want to stick around until the end because you could get in on the surprise.

So, there you have it. MediaTek is making a splash and looking to make 2021 an even bigger year for the company’s ever-expanding chipset lineup. We’ll bring you up-to-the-minute coverage next Tuesday as the Summit takes place. In the meantime, you can sign up for a change to win that awesome Lenovo Chromebook Duet below. On behalf of MediaTek and Chrome Unboxed, I wish you good luck.
