One of the handiest Gemini integrations yet is coming to Gmail

Google’s been busy weaving its AI capabilities into every nook and cranny of Workspace, and Gmail is no exception. With a new addition that will begin rolling out today, Gemini is now lending a hand to make calendar management directly from emails a bit simpler.

If you’re like me, you get a ton of emails that contain the details for upcoming events. Before, I’d have to manually copy and paste that info into a new calendar entry; but those days may be behind me very soon.

With this latest update, Gemini automatically scans your emails for anything that looks like calendar-related info. When it spots something, it pops up an “Add to Calendar” button right there in the email. One click, and the event details get added directly to your calendar with everything in the right place.

Of course, there are a few little details worth noting. This feature is currently web-only and only works with English-language emails. Also, if Gmail has already extracted event info (like for flights or restaurant reservations), the “Add to Calendar” button won’t show up. And keep in mind that events created this way won’t include other guests.

Still, this is a very awesome way to utilize AI and should become a well-used time-saver for a lot of users very soon. Specifically, Google says it will arrive for a wide range of Google Workspace users and those with Google One AI Premium over the next two weeks. Here’s the breakdown of users who will get this Gemini/Gmail update across the board:

• Customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on 
• Google One AI Premium
