As we approach the anticipated launch of Google’s Pixel 9a at some point this month, a fresh wave of leaks has surfaced, providing a clearer picture of what to expect from the latest mid-range Pixel phone. Notably, the leaks, which are from Evan Blass’s X/Twitter account (it is private, so you may or may not have access), center on the new “Iris” purple color variant and a substantially thinner camera module.
The leaked marketing materials reinforce much of what we already know about the Pixel 9a’s integration with Google’s ecosystem. References to Gemini, various Google services, Feature Drops, and seamless connectivity within the Pixel family are prominently featured, alongside a nod to the Theft Detection feature. However, the most striking visual element is the new “Iris” purple hue, showcased in various settings and compared directly with other color options in the Pixel lineup.

Beyond the color, the leaks offer a detailed look at the Pixel 9a’s camera bump, or rather, the lack thereof. The camera module now protrudes minimally from the device’s rear, reminiscent of a bit of a bygone era of smartphone design. It’s a pretty big visual departure from the more-pronounced camera bumps we generally see in modern phones, and it seems to be delivering a cleaner, more streamlined profile.

The anticipation surrounding the Pixel 9a’s official announcement continues to build, with the latest rumors pointing towards a release date of March 26th. As we draw closer to the expected launch, these final leaks offer a tad more valuable details about the design and aesthetics of Google’s upcoming mid-ranger. We don’t have long to actually see it in person, it seems.
