Best Buy just rolled out “Early Black Friday” deals on hundreds of products including a ridiculous deal on the fan-favorite Lenovo Chromebook Duet. We’ll highlight the best Chromebook and Google Assistant deals in a roundup later today but I felt that this particular product deserved its own spotlight because this deal is just that good.
Lenovo recently announced its second Google Assistant Smart Clock, the Essential and the reviews around this little bedside device have been nothing short of stellar. With the same audio quality as its touchscreen-bearing big brother, the streamlined Smart Clock Essential offers all the functionality of an Assistant-enabled smart speaker in a compact design. The 4″ display doesn’t just tell you the time either. With a quick glance, you can see the day and current weather conditions. The Essential also features a handy nightlight that is placed discretely at the back of the device and will keep you from tripping over anything when you have to visit the bathroom at 3 a.m. It also has a USB port on the back that can be used to charge your phone or, like me, your smartwatch.
The Essential is powered by the same speakers as the original Smart Clock so you can expect the same audio quality that ranks somewhere slightly about the Nest Mini. At $49.99, the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential is a solid purchase for those wanting a versatile smart speaker in the bedroom but don’t want a display or a camera. However, the larger smart clock from Lenovo is frequently on sale and it’s for that reason I normally recommend that model. However, Lenovo and Best Buy have slashed the price of the Essential in half and you can pick one up for only $24.99. If you’re anxious to get your hands on one, you may luck out like I did and pick one up curbside from your local Best Buy. If you have some patience or you’re getting this as a holiday gift, you can buy it from Lenovo and grab an extra $2.50 cashback by using Rakuten when you shop. Find both listings below. If you get one or have one already, drop a comment below and let us know what you think. We’ll have a quick review of the Essential headed your way in the near future.
