We knew that Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Chromebook was going to see a steep discount for Black Friday but I did not expect this deal to pop up this early. However, thanks to Best Buy’s “early access” deals, you can pick up the sleek, Project Athena Chromebook and save $200. There is one catch but don’t worry, it’s really not an obstacle at all. To get access to Best Buy’s early access and member deals, you need only to sign up for a Best Buy account. The best news is that it doesn’t cost a dime to join and you’ll enjoy exclusive benefits such as early access to deals like this. Another great benefit is My Best Buy Rewards. Depending on how much you shop at Best Buy, you can earn up to 1.25 points per dollar spent and those points translate to certificates that can be applied to future purchases. For every 250 points you bank, you’ll get a $5 discount that you can apply when you checkout.

Anyway, now that you know how to get the deal, let’s get back to the device. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook was the belle of the ball at CES this year and despite some speed bumps, this super thin and beautiful Chromebook is probably the best-looking device in the Chrome OS space. We were very disappointed when we realized that the Galaxy was suffering from a severely diminished battery life but that doesn’t detract from the Chromebook’s overall near-perfect build and actual performance. (So long as you don’t stray too far from a power supply.)

We’ve steered clear of recommending the Galaxy at its full price of $999 but that has little to do with the poor battery life. That fact of the matter is, there are just too many great Chromebooks to be had in the $400 to $650 price range. Even now, you can get our top pick Acer Chromebook Spin 713 for the discounted price of only $549 and you’ll get the same CPU and RAM as the Galaxy. That said, the Galaxy is a work of art and it does offer the best of what’s around in the world of Chrome OS. You get a garaged stylus, fingerprint sensor, 256GB of speedy NVMe storage, and that crispy 4K AMOLED display that pumps out 700+ nits of brightness. Oh, let’s not forget that fiery, eye-catching Fiesta Red finish. There’s a lot to love about this Chromebook and for those who simply want the best of the best, $799 is a very reasonable price to get an ultra-premium device.

Once you’ve set up your Best Buy account, you can find the discounted Samsung Galaxy Chromebook at the link below. It is plausible that Samsung will offer this same discount closer to Black Friday. In the meantime, don’t forget that Samsung is still offering trade-in on the Galaxy and a slew of other devices. You can get up to $450 off with an eligible trade-in device such as an iPhone XS Max, Pixel Phones, Surface tablets, and more. Rakuten is also offering 10% cash back for a limited time when you shop Samsung. So, you go with whichever offer makes more sense for you.
