If you’re anxiously awaiting the Samsung Chromebook Pro, we have some news to pass along directly from Samsung themselves. Since its announcement at CES, we have been anticipating a release date of late April or early May for the Pro. Unfortunately, that is not the case. On the other hand, hearing from Samsung on when to expect the Pro does help us breathe a little easier.
We have reached out to our contacts at Samsung and today are happy to report that the Chromebook Pro is, in fact, still coming. The release date is a bit later than we had hoped or expected but according to Samsung’s official statement,
We are excited to see the consumer response with Chromebook Plus and are committed to bringing products to market with features and capabilities that enhance their lives. Chromebook Pro will be available later this spring. Chromebook Plus is available for purchase online and in-store now.
Samsung
This may come as a bit of a let down for many but I feel it sends a clear statement that Samsung is committed to making sure the Chromebook Pro is ready when it finally sees daylight. Multiple statements from Samsung shared that the Play Store would be out of Beta when the Pro is released. The fact that it has yet to happen could be partially responsible for the delay of the Pro.
The last day of Spring is June 20th. We really hope Samsung can deliver on this statement and we will see the Chromebook Pro finally make its way to the wild before summer. We will keep our ears to the ground and as soon as we hear more, you will know.
