With Googlebook pre-orders officially opening this coming Monday, September 21, the final hardware designs for Google’s first-wave fleet are leaking out more and more. While we got an early glimpse when Acer teased a dark silhouette on stage at IFA 2026, the company kept the actual chassis lines shrouded in shadows. Now, we finally have our first clean, high-resolution look at Acer’s upcoming flagship from every angle.

According to a fresh batch of leaked press renders published by Android Headlines (via GbookHub), the Acer Googlebook 14 (GP714-91N) has leaked in detailed profile shots alongside the ASUS CX9406 and the Lenovo Googlebook i 15. The new images confirm that Acer is bringing its proven convertible engineering directly into the Googlebook era, giving buyers a distinctly versatile option in a sea of standard clamshells.

360-degree convertible in a sea of clamshells

For anyone who has followed Acer’s premium laptops over the years, the silhouette visible in these renders will feel immediately familiar. The chassis and dual-hinge design clearly inherit the DNA of the beloved Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714, carrying over the same sturdy 360-degree versatility that allows the screen to fold flat into tablet, tent, and presentation modes.

That convertible hinge is a massive differentiator for Acer. With the devices that have leaked out thus far, it looks like Acer’s will be the only convertible of the initial bunch. Pairing full laptop performance with tablet flexibility makes complete sense for Googlebook, especially when you consider how well Android handles touch inputs, stylus sketching, and tablet-optimized apps.

Leaked internals and an offset Glowbar

The leaked profile shots also give us a closer look at half of Acer’s port layout. Along the left side of the dark titanium chassis, the render clearly reveals dual USB-C ports. We can now add this to the early European retailer spec leaks that surfaced last month, which full detailed a full-sized HDMI port, an Intel Core Ultra 5 (Panther Lake) processor, 16GB of RAM, and a gorgeous 14-inch 120Hz 2.8K OLED display.

Interestingly, the leak also highlights a fascinating hardware quirk regarding Google’s signature Glowbar. On Lenovo’s 15-inch laptop, the multicolored LED light strip is centered directly along the top lip of the display lid. On the Acer Googlebook 14, however, the renders reveal that Acer placed the Glowbar slightly offset toward the upper corner. It is a subtle touch, but it proves that Google gave hardware partners genuine aesthetic freedom in how they integrated the feature.

Counting down to September 21

Between a vibrant 120Hz OLED touchscreen, unique 360-degree convertible hinges, generous port selection, and next-generation Intel silicon, the Acer Googlebook 14 is shaping up to be one of the most practical and well-rounded devices in the entire first wave.

With pre-orders opening on September 21 and Google already scheduling its October 5 “Opening Night” celebration party in New York, the wait to see these laptops in action is almost over. I’ll be sharing my full hands-on impressions of Acer’s convertible and the rest of the launch fleet the second the press embargo lifts on Monday at 9:00 AM ET, so stay tuned to Chrome Unboxed!
