The Made By Google team has expanded their Nest doorbell ringtone offerings this year for the holiday season. Last year, they implemented ten tones related to Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s. Now, they’re back, but with an additional four new sounds centered on Kwanzaa. Nest Doorbell users will notice that their Halloween sounds have disappeared from the app until next year!
If you’d like to change your doorbell tone, just open the Nest app, found below, and go to settings, and then to ‘Doorbell theme’. There’s currently no way to preview the new sounds before you set them, but Google has stated in response to a user on Twitter that they will take that feedback into consideration for the future.
The app should notify you of the update in your phone’s notification shade. When someone approaches your door and presses the doorbell, they are greeted with the seasonal chime. If you have other Nest or Google Home devices and have enabled visitor announcements, the chime will play throughout your home!
Just in case you get a Nest Doorbell as a gift this year, you should know that installation is basically a few screws and two wires, but you’re interested, you can hire a professional from the Handy network to come out and do it for you. Instead of its normal $99 cost, it currently runs just $50 to have someone take the work off of your hands.
