MediaTek unveils Dimensity CX C10 Max: 3nm, 55 TOPS NPU, and built for future Googlebooks

Today has already been an absolute tidal wave of Googlebook news. Between our full hands-on coverage of the Googlebook launch fleet and our more-detailed look at Googlebook OS, the stage is officially set for Google’s next computing era.

While Intel and Qualcomm power all five of the initial launch laptops, a massive third player in Google’s laptop strategy has just officially entered the arena: MediaTek.

Today, they took the wraps off the Dimensity CX C10 Max, the inaugural flagship processor in the company’s brand-new Dimensity Compute Experiences (CX) family; and it is engineered specifically to power upcoming premium, ultra-portable Googlebook hardware.

TSMC 3nm, “All Big Core” architecture, and 55 TOPS NPU

The Dimensity CX C10 Max represents a substantial technological flex for MediaTek, marking their most ambitious push into high-end mobile computing yet:

• Advanced 3nm Process: Built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm node, designed to deliver exceptional power efficiency, all-day battery life, and true fanless hardware designs.
• All Big Core CPU & 11-Core GPU: Built around an octa-core CPU utilizing an “All Big Core” topology paired with a high-performance 11-core GPU.
• MediaTek NPU 890: Packed with an 8th-generation NPU delivering up to 55 TOPS of local AI inferencing power. That is more on-device NPU performance than either Intel’s Panther Lake (47–50 TOPS) or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite (45 TOPS) in the launch fleet, making it a natural fit for on-device Gemini Intelligence features.
• Imagiq 1090 AI-ISP: An advanced imaging processor supporting camera sensors up to 32MP with AI-driven HDR video capture, seamless video zoom, cinematic video, and real-time focus tracking.
• Next-Gen Connectivity: Native support for Wi-Fi 7 with throughput speeds up to 7.3 Gbps, alongside dual-engine Bluetooth 6.0.

MediaTek explicitly noted that the Dimensity CX C10 Max was designed to bring these high-efficiency capabilities to Googlebook, building upon their long-standing partnership with Google in Android computing.

What this means for future Googlebooks, and what was missing

MediaTek has been a foundational hardware partner for ChromeOS over the years, powering many of the most successful entry-level and mid-range devices on the market.

Seeing them debut the Dimensity CX family with a 3nm flagship pushing 55 TOPS makes it clear they are not aiming for the low end this time around. Instead, they are building silicon for premium, ultra-thin, silent machines that take full advantage of Googlebook OS.

That brings up the elephant in the room: while the Dimensity CX C10 Max is officially here, MediaTek silicon was nowhere to be found on the demo floor in New York City last week. More specifically, many of us were expecting a certain detachable device – the long-rumored Lenovo Duet m – to be front and center for this announcement.
