It’s official: Google’s Chromebook Showcase is set for next Tuesday, June 17th

Finally!! Though it’s a bit later than it has been in the past, we finally have a date set for the spring/summer Chromebook Showcase in New York, and it’s next Tuesday, June 17th. It has been a long, long time since we’ve had one of these get-togethers, reaching all the way back to early October of 2024. That’s a whopping 8.5 months since we’ve had big Chromebook hardware news; and if you are anything like us, you feel that gap right now.

For this event, the main thing we’re expecting is the introduction of ‘Navi’ – the wildly-powerful, larger-than-life Chromebook that is on the way with MediaTek’s new Kompanio Ultra, 4K OLED screen, and 16-inch 16:10 chassis. This thing should be an absolute beast with massive performance, incredible battery life, and high-end touches that make it a big contender in the premium Chromebook Plus space.

There are other Chromebooks looming for sure, but the timing is definitely right for ‘Navi’ to appear and usher us into the age of flagship, ARM-powered Chromebooks. While the transition over to the Android Kernel is still likely a ways off, this move to higher quality ARM silicon will be important as ChromeOS and Android eventually become far closer in their underlying capabilities.

For now, this Chromebook Showcase will be under embargo, so we won’t be able to share what we see until the specified date. But you know we’ll have all sorts of coverage on whatever hardware and software is discussed at the event the moment we’re allowed to share it with all of you!
