Google Vids has been a fantastic addition to the Workspace lineup for assembling quick pitch videos and training materials, but relying on standard AI narration can sometimes leave your presentation feeling a bit stiff. That is changing now.
Powered by the new Gemini 3.1 Flash Text-To-Speech model, Google Vids is receiving a massive update that brings genuine emotion, pacing, and 30 new conversational voice options to your video projects.
Directing your AI narrator
The most exciting part of this update is how much control you now have over the performance. Instead of just pasting a script and hoping for the best, you can now embed stage directions directly into your text. By adding emotional instructions, you can tell the AI to:
- Read a line like you are excited.
- Add pacing using bracket notation, such as inserting a [pause] for dramatic effect.
- Include natural audio cues like a [laugh] to make the delivery feel significantly more human.
Expanding the global reach
Alongside the new conversational voices, Google is significantly expanding the language capabilities of Vids. All 30 of the new AI voiceover options are supported across 24 different languages.
This update introduces 16 new languages to the platform, including Arabic, Bengali, Dutch, Hindi, Indonesian, Polish, Thai, and Vietnamese, among others. These join the existing support for languages like English, Spanish, Japanese, and French, making it easier than ever to localize your content for a global team.
Rollout and Availability
The best part is that you do not have to wait to try this out. According to the official announcement, the full rollout for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains began on April 15, 2026.
These expressive new AI voiceovers are available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts. If you have been hesitant to use AI voiceovers because they felt too robotic, it is definitely time to give Google Vids another try.
