Google Vids is already a fantastic tool for quickly creating professional-looking videos, but a new update is making it an even more powerful and intelligent creative partner. According to a new post on the Workspace Updates blog, the “Help me create” feature in Google Vids now supports Google Slides presentations as reference material. This is a massive productivity boost that allows you to breathe new life into your existing slide decks by transforming them into engaging, shareable videos with minimal effort.
Turn your slides into a story
The new workflow is designed to be incredibly simple. When you start a new project in Vids and use the “Help me create” feature, you can now simply reference a relevant Slides presentation in your prompt using the “@” symbol.

From there, Gemini will analyze your presentation and automatically generate a video draft by pulling in text, images, and even entire slides. This is on top of the other great AI features Vids already provides, like suggesting a script, creating an AI voiceover, and adding background music. It’s a seamless way to go from a static presentation to a dynamic video in just a few moments.
The perfect repurposing tool
This new feature is the perfect tool for repurposing all that content you already have sitting in Google Drive. Think about all the school projects, business pitches, or training materials you’ve built in Google Slides over the years. With this new integration, you can now quickly and easily transform them into visually engaging videos without having to start from scratch.
The new feature is part of a gradual roll-out that started on September 2nd and is available to most paid Workspace subscribers, Gemini for Education add-on users, and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. For now, the AI features in Vids are only available in English.
