As expected, Google just announced the release of the PixelBook. The next generation Chromebook from Google didn’t bring with it too many surprises but we were pleased to learn that the base price is lower than the rumored $1,199.
The PixelBook comes in three configurations with 7th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Check out a quick video from Google showing off what you can do with the new PixelBook.
Currently, you can pre-order either of the Core i5 models today directly from the Google Store. For $999 you can secure your PixelBook with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. $1,199 doubles your storage to 256GB.
If you are looking for the Core i7, you can join a waitlist to be one of the first to have Google’s new Chrome OS monster. The Core i7 with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage will set you back $1,649.
You can also grab a PixelBook Pen for $99. Designed in conjunction with Wacom, the PixelBook pen offers a 10ms latency, 60-degree angular awareness and over 2000 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The PixelBook Pen also gives you direct access to the Google Assistant via the barrel-button. Simply press and hold the button, select some text or circle something on your display and the Assistant will offer up contextual help just for you.
We will be getting our hands on the PixelBook shortly and will be sharing our first impressions later today. We also hope to answer some questions about the future of the PixelBook after a quick chat with the developer team.
