Google Meet’s AI-powered “Take notes for me” feature has been helpful for a while now, and generally speaking, it’s pretty fantastic. It captures the gist of the conversation and actionable items without you having to lift a finger. But sometimes, “the gist” isn’t enough. For technical deep-dives or complex project planning, the standard summary can feel a little too concise, leaving out the nitty-gritty details you actually need.
Google has clearly heard this feedback, and in a helpful new update, they are introducing a configuration option that lets you choose the length of your AI-generated notes.
Capture 2x the detail
Meeting participants can now configure the “Notes Length” setting directly within the feature. By selecting the new “Longer” option, Gemini will generate notes that are roughly twice as long as the standard document.
This isn’t just about word count; it’s about density. This mode is specifically designed to help capture all the important details during technical discussions, complex project meetings, or any session where every detail is critical. It ensures that the nuance of a debate or the specific technical specs mentioned aren’t lost in the summarization process.

Important details
This new setting is available now but comes with a few caveats:
- English Only: For now, this feature is only available for meetings conducted in English.
- Off by Default: The feature is off by default, so you will need to manually select the “Longer” option in the menu if you want the extra detail.
The rollout began on November 11, 2025, and is available to most Google Workspace business and enterprise customers, as well as subscribers to Google One AI Premium.
