The “Take notes for me” feature in Google Meet is already a fantastic AI-powered tool for capturing the essence of a meeting without having to manually type everything out. But Google is now rolling out two significant improvements that make the feature even more helpful and give hosts more control over who sees the output.
A smarter, more helpful follow-up email
Currently, when you use “Take notes for me,” you get a follow-up email with a link to the notes document. In a great quality-of-life update, that email is becoming far more useful. The email itself will now include a summary of the meeting as well as a list of “suggested next steps” right in the body, in addition to the link to the full notes document.

This is a fantastic change because it gives all meeting invitees a quick, helpful overview of the meeting in one place, letting them get the gist of what was discussed and what needs to happen next without even having to open the full document.
More control for meeting hosts

The second part of this update gives meeting hosts and co-hosts more granular control over the meeting notes. Now, when using Meet on a web browser, hosts can choose exactly who the meeting notes email should be sent to before they even turn the feature on. The sharing options include:
- All invited guests
- Invited guests in your organization
- Hosts and co-hosts only
The default setting is “Invited guests in your organization,” and whatever setting you choose will persist for that meeting and any future recurring meetings in that series.
Availability
These new enhancements are rolling out now with an extended rollout (potentially longer than 15 days) that began on July 7, 2025. The feature is available to most paid Google Workspace customers, including:
- Business Standard and Plus
- Enterprise Standard and Plus
- Users with the Gemini Education Premium add-on
These are exactly the kind of practical, thoughtful updates we love to see. They take an already useful AI feature and make it smarter and more flexible for real-world collaboration.
