Google Meet is adding visual screenshots to Gemini meeting notes

Google Meet’s AI-powered Take notes for me feature has been a game-changer for capturing meeting summaries and key action items automatically. However, while transcripts and written notes do a great job summarizing spoken conversations, they have always missed a crucial part of most meetings: visual content like slide decks, financial charts, and architecture diagrams.

That gap is officially closing. According to a new post on the Google Workspace Updates blog, Google is preparing to roll out visual screenshots directly inside Gemini-generated meeting notes.

Preserving visual context alongside text summaries

When this feature officially launches in the coming weeks, Gemini will automatically capture screenshots of presented content during a call and embed them directly into the generated Google Doc notes. This ensures that when you review notes after a meeting, the relevant slides, graphs, and diagrams are right there alongside the corresponding bullet points and transcripts.

To address privacy concerns around capturing screen content, Google is building in clear user controls and notifications:

• Presenter alerts: Whenever a user begins sharing their screen in a meeting where note-taking is enabled, an on-screen notification will alert the presenter that Gemini may take screenshots of the presentation.
• In-meeting toggles: Both presenters and meeting participants can manage or completely disable screenshot capture at any time directly from the Google Meet notes panel.
• Enterprise security: All captured screenshots fall under Google Workspace’s standard enterprise-grade data protections.

Admin controls available today

While the general end-user feature will roll out gradually over the next few weeks, Google has already pushed the admin controls live in the Google Admin console.

IT administrators can head to Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet today to pre-configure permissions for their organization. Admins can choose to either always allow screenshots of presented content (the default setting) or restrict screenshot capture so it only occurs when a full meeting recording is active.

Availability and rollout pace

End-user rollout for visual screenshots will begin in Q3 2026 across both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains. The feature will be available for Google Workspace Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Google AI Pro for Education customers. If your team relies on Google Meet for visual presentations and strategy decks, this update should make post-meeting summaries infinitely more useful.
