We’ve all been there. You get a last-minute calendar notification for a video call you weren’t quite ready for, and you wish you had a few more moments to look a bit more polished and presentable. Last year, Google introduced the “Touch-up” feature in Meet to help with this, but a new update is taking things to a whole new, AI-powered level. In a fun and surprisingly practical new update, Google is expanding this feature with the addition of AI-powered makeup directly within Google Meet.
From polished to expressive, all in one click
This new feature gives you a range of 12 new studio makeup looks to choose from. The options run the gamut from a subtle, polished, professional touch to a more expressive flair, giving you a quick way to enhance your appearance to match the tone of any meeting.
The most impressive part is the AI behind it. Google has trained the model to ensure your chosen look remains seamless and untouched, even through everyday movements like sipping your coffee or touching your face. It intelligently maps to your unique features and moves with you, so it looks natural and not like a static filter.

How to get it and how it works
The new AI-powered makeup options are available in the same appearance panel as the existing Touch-up feature on both web and mobile. The feature will be off by default, so you’ll need to enable it yourself when you want to use it. Once you choose a look, your preference will be saved for your next meeting, so you don’t have to re-apply it every time.
The feature is part of a gradual rollout that began on October 8th and is available to a wide range of users, including most paid Google Workspace plans (like Business Standard/Plus and Enterprise), as well as Google One and Google Workspace Individual subscribers.
While it might sound a bit like a gimmick at first, this is an incredibly practical feature for the modern, remote-work world. It’s a quick, easy confidence booster for those unexpected calls, and another great example of Google using its AI to solve everyday problems.
